Account & Data Deletion Request
Last updated: August 21, 2026
1. How to Request Deletion
At ChoreKeep, we provide ways for you to request the deletion of your entire account or specific types of personal data associated with your profile.
Full Account Deletion (Recommended)
The fastest way to delete your account and personal data, subject to the shared-household retention described below, is directly within the ChoreKeep mobile application:
- Open the ChoreKeep app on your device.
- Tap your profile icon to open Settings.
- Open Account Settings.
- Expand Delete Account and tap Confirm Delete.
- Type DELETE, then tap Delete Account.
Partial Data Deletion Request
If you wish to request deletion of specific data without deleting your account, please contact us by email. We will evaluate the request subject to the rights of other household members, security requirements, and applicable law.
Email Request
For both full account deletion and partial data deletion requests, you may contact us at:
Please include your account email address and specify whether you are requesting a full account deletion or a partial data deletion (listing the specific data types). For security purposes, we may ask you to verify your identity before proceeding.
2. Data Deletion & Retention
In-app deletion begins immediately. Email requests are processed after identity verification and within the period required by applicable law, generally within 30 days.
Information that is permanently deleted:
- Account Information: Your name, email address, hashed password, and profile photo/avatar.
- Sole-member Household Data: Any household where you are the only active member, including its chores, instances, reminders, notification records, and uploaded household photos.
- Server-stored Preferences: Personal notification settings and reminder overrides.
- Tokens: Push notification tokens associated with your device and, after revocation, the encrypted refresh token retained for Sign in with Apple account deletion.
Information that is retained:
- Shared-household Data: If other active members remain, household chores and completion history stay available to them. References identifying you as the creator or completer are cleared or shown as a non-identifying deleted-member state.
- Device-local Preferences: Settings stored only on your device may remain until you clear the app's data or uninstall it. ChoreKeep does not retain these settings on its servers.
- Support Communications: If you have contacted us for support, those email records may be retained for security and audit purposes.
- Limited Operational Records: Deletion-job status, anonymized analytics and error records, and records required for security, fraud prevention, disputes, or legal compliance may be retained only as reasonably necessary.
- Subscription Records: Apple, Google, and RevenueCat may retain transaction and subscription records under their own legal obligations and policies. Deleting your account would not cancel an active App Store or Google Play subscription.
3. Important Considerations
- Household Administration: If you are the sole administrator of a household with other active members, you must grant another member administrator access or remove the other members before you can delete your account.
- Retention Period: Most data is deleted immediately upon processing the request via the app. Requests made via email are processed within 30 days.
- Subscription Cancellation: Cancel an active subscription through the App Store or Google Play account where you subscribed; deleting ChoreKeep or your account would not cancel billing.
- Public Media URLs: Profile and household photos use public bearer URLs. Your avatar and sole-member household photos are deleted with your account; photos belonging to a shared household remain with that household.
- Irreversibility: Once an account is deleted, it cannot be recovered. Server-side personal settings and account access are permanently lost, while device-local preferences and anonymized shared-household history may remain as described above.
