Terms of Service

Last updated: August 28, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing the website located at https://chorekeepapp.com, using any prerelease version of the ChoreKeep mobile application made available to you for testing, or later downloading or using a public release (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Service.

2. Description of Service

ChoreKeep is a household chore management application for Android and iOS. Public availability may vary by platform during rollout. The application allows users to create and join households; create, assign, schedule, and track chores; set up recurring chores with customizable recurrence rules; receive push notification reminders; and collaborate with other household members. ChoreKeep is free to use and offers an optional paid ChoreKeep Pro subscription. The features, billing period, price, and any introductory offer are shown in the app before purchase.

Paid subscriptions are purchased and billed through Google Play or Apple's App Store and managed with RevenueCat. Unless the purchase screen states otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically until canceled through the account settings for the store where you subscribed. Deleting ChoreKeep or your ChoreKeep account does not itself cancel an active subscription. Eligible purchases may be restored from the app, and refunds are governed by the applicable storefront's policies and law.

3. User Accounts

  • You may create an account using an email address and password, Google Sign-In, or Sign in with Apple where available.
  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
  • You must notify us immediately at [email protected] if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account.
  • Each account is for a single individual. You may not share your account credentials with others.

4. User Content

"User Content" means all data, text, images, and other materials that you create, upload, or provide through the Service, including but not limited to profile information, household data, chores, completion notes, and photos.

  • Ownership: You retain all rights to your User Content. We do not claim any ownership over your data.
  • License to us: By using the Service, you grant ChoreKeep a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, transmit, display, and reproduce your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you and the household members you choose to share it with. This license terminates when the content is deleted, except that shared-household history may remain in anonymized form as described below and in our Privacy Policy.
  • Content standards: You agree that your User Content will not: be unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or obscene; infringe or violate any third party's intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other rights; contain viruses, malware, or any other harmful code; or impersonate any person or entity.
  • No tolerance for objectionable content: ChoreKeep has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Posting objectionable content, or abusing another user, is a material breach of these Terms.
  • Safety reporting: The app provides clearly labeled in-app actions to report a member or report content. Reports may include the reporter, the household context, the reported target, and a snapshot of the reported content so we can review it accurately.
  • Blocking: You may block another household member from your household view without removing them from the household. Blocking does not replace reporting content that violates these Terms.
  • Review and enforcement: ChoreKeep manually reviews safety reports and may remove or restrict content, restrict or remove a member from a household, or suspend or terminate an account when appropriate. Reports involving threats, child safety, or illegal content may be escalated to appropriate authorities.
  • Response time: We act on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours of receiving them by removing the content and ejecting the user who provided it. Where a report describes conduct rather than content, we take the equivalent action against the account within the same period.

Reporting and blocking are available from inside the app, and also by email to [email protected]. Our support page lists each reporting action and where to find it.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
  • Use automated scripts, bots, crawlers, or scraping tools to access or collect data from the Service.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable burden on the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Upload or transmit malicious content, including viruses, trojans, worms, or spam.
  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts, households, or data.
  • Circumvent or attempt to circumvent any security features of the Service.

6. Household Features

ChoreKeep allows users to create and join households to collaborate on chore management. By using household features, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Chore data, assignments, and completion status within a household are visible to all members of that household.
  • Household administrators may manage household settings, members, and chores.
  • Invite codes allow other users to join your household. You are responsible for sharing invite codes only with people you intend to invite.
  • You may leave a household after satisfying any required administrator-transfer step. Authorized administrators may delete a household, which will affect all members.
  • If you leave a shared household or delete your account, shared chore and completion history may remain available to that household with your personal attribution removed.
  • Profile and household photos are currently served from public media URLs. Anyone who obtains one of those URLs may be able to view the image until it is replaced or deleted.

7. Push Notifications

The Service may send push notifications for chore assignments and scheduled reminders. By enabling push notifications on your device and within the app, you consent to receiving these notifications. You may opt out at any time by adjusting your notification preferences in the app settings or through your device's notification settings.

8. Intellectual Property

The ChoreKeep name, logo, visual design, source code, and all related intellectual property are owned by ChoreKeep and protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial household management purposes. This license does not grant you any right to modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works based on the Service.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party service providers (identified in our Privacy Policy) for functions such as authentication, database hosting, push notification delivery, email delivery, subscriptions and purchase-status management, product analytics, and error tracking. ChoreKeep is not responsible for the availability, reliability, or performance of these third-party services. Your use of the Service is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of these third-party providers.

10. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Account Settings → Delete Account in the app. Upon deletion, your authentication record, profile, memberships, notification preferences, push tokens, reminders, and avatar files are permanently removed. A household where you are the only active member is also deleted with its chores, history, reminders, and household photos.

In a household that still has other active members, household chores and completion history remain available to those members, but links identifying you as the creator or completer are removed. A sole administrator of a shared household must transfer administrator access before deleting their account.

Limited operational records—such as deletion-job status, support correspondence, anonymized analytics, and error records—may remain for security, audit, legal, or service reliability purposes as described in our Privacy Policy. Account deletion cannot be undone and does not cancel an active app-store subscription.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at our sole discretion, with or without notice, for conduct that we reasonably believe:

  • Violates these Terms or any applicable law.
  • Is harmful to other users, the Service, us, or third parties.
  • Involves fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity.

You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections 4 (ownership), 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 19 of these Terms will survive termination.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. CHOREKEEP DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. NO ADVICE OR INFORMATION, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, OBTAINED FROM CHOREKEEP SHALL CREATE ANY WARRANTY NOT EXPRESSLY STATED IN THESE TERMS.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CHOREKEEP AND ITS DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

  • Your access to, use of, or inability to use the Service.
  • Any conduct or content of any third party on or related to the Service.
  • Any content obtained from the Service or unauthorized access to your data.

IN NO EVENT SHALL CHOREKEEP'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100.00) OR THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO CHOREKEEP IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, WHICHEVER IS GREATER. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ChoreKeep and its developer from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any rights of any third party; or (d) your User Content.

15. Dispute Resolution & Arbitration

Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights, including your right to file a lawsuit in court.

15.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing any formal proceeding, you agree to first contact us at [email protected] and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days. Most disputes can be resolved this way.

15.2 Binding Arbitration

If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and ChoreKeep agree to resolve any claim, dispute, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service through final and binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, as modified by this section. The arbitration will be conducted by a single arbitrator, in the English language.

The arbitration may be conducted in person, by telephone, via video conference, or based on written submissions, at the option of the party initiating the arbitration. The arbitration will take place in the State of Ohio, unless you and ChoreKeep agree to a different location.

The arbitrator's decision will be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.

15.3 Small Claims Court Exception

Notwithstanding the above, either party may bring an individual action in small claims court for disputes within the jurisdictional limits of such court, provided that the action is not removed or transferred to a different court.

15.4 Class Action Waiver

YOU AND CHOREKEEP AGREE THAT EACH PARTY MAY ONLY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not preside over any form of class, consolidated, or representative proceeding. If this class action waiver is found to be unenforceable, then the entirety of this arbitration section shall be null and void.

15.5 Opt-Out Right

You may opt out of this arbitration provision by sending written notice to [email protected] within thirty (30) days of first agreeing to these Terms, with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out." Your notice must include your name, email address associated with your account, and a clear statement that you wish to opt out of arbitration. If you opt out, you and ChoreKeep agree to resolve disputes as described in Section 16 (Governing Law).

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. To the extent that litigation is permitted under these Terms (including if you opt out of arbitration), you and ChoreKeep agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in the State of Ohio.

17. General Provisions

  • Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ChoreKeep regarding the Service.
  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
  • Waiver: The failure of ChoreKeep to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.
  • Assignment: You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them without our prior written consent. ChoreKeep may assign these Terms without restriction.
  • Force majeure: ChoreKeep shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, war, terrorism, pandemics, power outages, or internet service failures.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide notice through the app or by email to the address associated with your account at least thirty (30) days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.
